Reports

Regeneration Affairs Sub-Committee.
A Forum member presented a report from the Regeneration Affairs Sub-Committee meeting. The report indicated that BRL had written to residents in relation to the problem of dust. Another Forum member said that he had not received any such letter from BRL. It was agreed that the BNC would check this out with BRL.

It was further agreed that the BNC would check out why work had ceased on Shangan Park.

In relation to the summer projects, it was indicated that there is very little by way of activities for the over 13’s.

A Forum member informed the meeting that she understood that there are 8 transfer applications in with DCC from the Longdale area because of anti-social behaviour. She said that there are no facilities for the children and this is the main cause of the problems. Due to the lack of facilities, some of the children are “wrecking” the estate. Linda offered the opinion that the parks should have been started first, and that the Shangan Neighbourhood Centre has no community facilities on offer.

A Forum member said that it had been made known to BRL that residents did not want a pub in the area as this would lead to a rise in anti-social activity, yet the pub was going ahead. She also indicated that the issue of anti-social activities is being raised at every Forum meeting.

A Forum member said that it is now seems apparent how little green space there is. She asked if it would be possible to find out whether there is a recommended amount of green space per area. It was agreed that BNC would check this out.
