Shangan Neighbourhood Centre
Planning Permission was recieved for this development on 17th October 2003, it was subsequently put out to tender and the tender documents were received on 27th February 2004.
At a recent planning session the forum put together a list of concerns and questions (detailed below) that have been forwarded to Ballymun Regeneration Limited.
- What type of shops/businesses will be located in the Centre? The residents do not want an off licence there.
- What car parking facilities will there be and are they sufficient?
- There should be community representation on the management committee of the centre.
- Who will own it? Will Dublin City Council own it and lease out the premises?
- Good security is very important.
- Arrangements for maintaining the cleanliness of public areas like pathways need to be agreed.
- The residents want to confirm that there will be no public access to a back lane.
- The management of the Centre should include a "community trust" arrangement i.e. that profits can be channelled back to the community.
- Proper management of the pub is very important.
- The shop & office units should have anti-graffiti facades.
