The Commissioners of
Public Works in Ireland hereby
give notice of their intention
to carry out development at the
site adjacent to the Ballymun Civic Centre,
Main Street, Ballymun, Dublin 9.
The development will consist of:
- The construction of a new 2,434 sqm
building housing a new Garda Divisional
Headquaters; - A single storey basement comprising
switch room, oil tank and generator area,
staff entry, and car parking for 65 staff
cars accessed via the existing vehicular
ramp which serves the basement car park
of the adjacent Civic Centre. - New vehicular access and gate from
main road to surface car parking for
48 no. staff cars to the rear of the
building; - Provision of new 7 sqm covered ESB
switch room at rear boundary of site; - Provision of new bicycle shed with
lean to roof at rear boundary of site; - Erection of a Garda telecommunications
mast 30 metres high measured from
finished ground level; - Provision of 5 no lay-by public
car parking spaces to the front of the site,
and 2 no. designated disabled parking
spaces within the context of a landscaped
public space to the front of the building; - General associated foul and surface
water drainage, site services, and above
and below ground site works to facilitate the development.
The proposed scheme comprises 6 storeys,
ie 5 storeys over single storey basement,
with the 5th storey set back.
The scheme is being developed in
conjunction with a new office development
comprising offices for the:
- Department of Social and
Family Affairs. - The Money, Advice and
Budgeting Services. - The Probation and Welfare Services,
which forms part of the same development,
and which is the subject of a separate application to Dublin City Council for planning permission.
The total site area relating
to the proposed development is 2275 sqm.
and the total site area relating to the
combined Garda and Social Welfare Development
is 3720 sqm. Drawings and

24th March 2005.
