Ballymun Tidy Towns Competition 2009

Another great year for Ballymun Tidy Towns
in the National Tidy Towns competition.

We raised our overall points total for
the forth year in a row and also scooped
a Notice Nature Biodiversity Award for the
Dublin Region. Ballymun was also the
category G winner for Dublin City
(Tidiest Large Urban Centre,
Category G = 15,001 - 25,000).

The Ballymun Tidy Towns committee
was founded in 2006 and consists of
representatives from the
Ballymun Neighbourhood Council (BNC),
Ballymun Regeneration Limited (BRL),
Dublin City Council (DCC),
Global Action Plan (GAP),Poppintree Environmental,
Ballymun Regional Youth Resource (BRYR),
IKEA, SuperValu Ballymun,
Ballymun Shopping Centre Management,
Local Councillors, and other community
representatives.

The Tidy Towns is not purely a
‘neat and tidy’ competition.
It also incorporates wider reaching objectives
including overall community approach in
various activities such as neighbourhood
clean ups, promotion of healthy living
(eg. Sli na Slainte’s),
encouragement of nature,
Green schools, recycling,
Smarter Travel,
Climate Chanage initiatives
and much much more.

The Ballymun Tidy Towns Committee would
like to invite people throughout
the community to get involved with Tidy Towns
initiatives in the area.
