The New Ballymun

The new Ballymun seems to me
An escape route for me to break free
I’ve never had friends while living in the flats
Maybe I’ll be out rather than staying in
and doing maths!

The Axis is the place for all to go
It’s fun for all and has great shows.
The new hotels will look a splendid sight
People coming to visit both day and night.

The leisure centre will be fun for all the family
The shopping centre full of stuff for you and me
No more buses to get all you want or need,
Making Ballymun Special is a truly great deed!

No more people moving away,
Ballymun is where they’ll want to stay!

Planning Authority Observing Contractors

A number of verbal and written complaints about some contractors ignoring planning decisions in relation to working hours have been submitted to the Planning Authority.

A planning authority officer who was contacted by a BNC staff member, confirmed that the authority is indeed heeding the complaints, have noted possible infringements and are following up on them.

Under-age Drinking

In the December 03 Newsflash we reported that the forum had raised concerns with the Gardai over the level of underage drinking and teenagers being able to purchase alcohol by sending an adult in for them. In a subsequent meeting with the Gardai it was reported to the forum that prosecutions are pending for adults who bought alcohol for children.
In cases were premises are caught selling alcohol directly to children this could lead to the closure or suspension of licences of these premises.

Improved BRL Consultation Impresses Residents

An excellent presentation on the Coultry 4 and 5 sites was made to Coultry Forum in Ballymun Civic Centre and later to residents, in the atrium of the Civic Centre, by the O’Mahony / Pike (OMP) Architects.

At the Forum - Contractor - Architects meeting, the Forum representatives had sought to impress on the contractor --Laing O'Rourke the importance of good consultation and listening to the local resident's concerns.

The Forum also pointed out that the community are at the end of their tether in relation to contractors who ignore the planning decisions in relation to working hours.

Their presentation is testament to their commitment to consultation, hopefully they will also honour their commitment to abide by the planning regulations.

The Coultry 4 and 5 sites will contain a total of 119 dwellings as follows:
