Coultry Forum Issues and Decisions in 2004

Monthly Forum General Meeting

Monthly Meeting
5th May 2004

The following issues were raised and-or agreed

1.Minutes from the previous meeting were read and discussed, then proposed, second and agreed.

2.Forum Issues

The Forum expressed a desire to find a resolution to issues that were creating a division between BNC and the Forum. The Chair expressed concern that a Coultry Forum member was asked to chair her first meeting of the Neighbourhood Management Working Group, given that she would not have been familiar with the issues that the group were dealing with.

The BNC representative commended the Coultry Forum representative on her chairing skills albeit that she was not have been familiar with the issues that the group were dealing with. It was suggested that Forum representatives who attend regeneration or neighbourhood management working groups would need to be briefed by the Forum or a relevant Forum Officer, before attending their respective meetings. It was agreed that the Forum itself should consider setting up small sub-committees to discuss and formulate points to be brought forward for discussion at non-forum meetings. The Forum representative who attended the meeting in question, said that as it was her first meeting at a Neighbourhood Management Working Group meeting she would need to have the BNC supply the minutes of the working group meeting in time to give accurate feedback to the Forum

3.Reports

Coultry 4&5 DCC New-build Housing

Planning permission had been granted for new-build housing on the sites, however it appears that a number of people have submitted a written appeal to the planning permission. It was suggested that the Forum speak with the residents most affected by the Coultry 4 and 5 building works (adjacent to Coultry Drive and Crescent and Coultry Gardens). The Chair informed the meeting that she had spoken with these residents and that meetings had been held to inform all residents and consultation had taken place, which included a display of the proposed development in the Ballymun Civic Centre, where the Contractor and BRL had people on hand to deal with queries.

The Chair suggested that if a number of Forum representatives were to visit residents directly affected by the Coultry 4&5 new-build dwellings with documents showing the Forum involvement, it might bring closure to this issue. It was agreed that the Forum has done everything in its power in addressing this issue. The BNC Manager agreed and suggested, that for new residents being housed on this site, it will eventually become evident how hard Coultry Forum worked for them and the existing residents in order to address concerns and get the best possible solution.

Forrest Wood (GAMA Contracting)

The handover date on these houses has not been decided as yet.

Soccer

A Forum member reported that three local football groups are getting together to outline a vision for the development of Soccer in the area.

Security Cameras

A Forum member felt that because of the process of relocating security cameras around the area, joyriding and other forms of anti-social behaviour seems to be on the increase. Ballymun Regeneration Ltd is paying for relocation of the cameras. It was agreed that the Forum would seek further clarification about the issue.

Dublin Bus

The Forum was assured that the service would improve, as roads are built, there is still the concern for people at the end of the estate, whose needs are not being met right now.
